Forest Green has appointed Hannah Dingley as their new caretaker manager, following the departure of Duncan Ferguson. Dingley, 39, will take charge of the League Two side in a friendly against non-League Melksham Town. The road leading to Forest Green Rovers' New Lawn Stadium is named 'Another Way', reflecting the club's commitment to running things differently. Owner Dale Vince has made a well-publicised effort to make the Gloucestershire outfit as environmentally friendly as possible. Dingley, who was appointed as the club's head of academy in 2019, has been a key recruit in establishing the academy to match the club's progress into the EFL. She oversees a team of 25 staff and around 140 young players. Dingley has worked at Burton Albion, Notts County, and as a university lecturer, and believes there is value in having women working in both the men's and women's game. She is excited for this next step in her career and grateful for the opportunity to lead such a progressive and forward-thinking club. Dingley has been clear that the academy's goal is to produce players for the first team, but also to provide a good quality education and support to those who may not make it as professional players. The club has already given opportunities to young players, such as Jack Carter and Finn Bell, who have played in the EFL Trophy. Dingley's appointment as caretaker manager is a significant step for the club and for women in football. She is aware that being in the spotlight is not her comfort zone, but she believes it is important to show that there is a pathway into coaching for women. Dingley's first game in charge will be against Melksham Town on Wednesday. The club is looking forward to the new season, which kicks off soon. Pre-season has just begun, and the players are working hard to prepare for the upcoming games. Dingley is focused on getting the team ready for the season and is excited to see the players in action.
