Forest Green Rovers have confirmed the release of midfielder Harvey Bunker and centre-back Ryan Inniss, alongside five other players, following the club's exit from the National League play-offs. This significant clear-out comes after their midweek extra-time defeat to Boreham Wood, marking a period of change for the Gloucestershire club.
Harvey Bunker, a 23-year-old midfielder who progressed through the Rovers' academy, will depart after making 149 appearances for the club. Despite his long tenure, Bunker found opportunities limited during the latter half of the recent season, leading to his confirmed exit from The New Lawn.
Ryan Inniss, a 30-year-old centre-back, joined Forest Green Rovers three years ago from Charlton Athletic. He had been a crucial part of the defence but struggled to regain his regular starting place after sustaining a mid-season calf injury, ultimately contributing to his release.
The pair are part of a larger group of seven players whose departures have been officially announced. This decision follows Forest Green's disappointing play-off campaign, which concluded with a tough loss to Boreham Wood.
In addition to Bunker and Inniss, the club has also released striker Christian Doidge, Sean Long, Liam Sercombe, Harry Cardwell, and Keon Sanniola. Meanwhile, captain Jordan Moore-Taylor and goalkeeper Harry Isted are currently in discussions with the club regarding potential new deals.
Furthermore, several loanees will be returning to their respective parent clubs. These include Jay Mingi, Chibby Nwoko, Ashqar Ahmed, Abraham Kanu, Elijah Morrison, and Jili Buyabu, further reshaping the squad ahead of the next season.
