Late Free‑Kick
Anton Stach curled a free‑kick from the edge of the area in the 88th minute to give Leeds United a 1‑0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The goal was the first win for the hosts at their home ground since 1972.
Leeds Control
Leeds dominated the match, creating several chances but failing to convert until Stach’s strike. Nikola Milenkovic hit a post in the 40th minute and Igor Jesus wasted two headers. The hosts also had a headed effort from James McAtee that hit the post and a missed opportunity from Chris Wood after a through ball from Murillo.
Forest Missed Chances
Nottingham Forest had multiple opportunities to take the lead. Aina’s long throw led to a header by James Trafford that was saved. Aina’s tackle on James Justin survived a VAR check for serious foul play. Harry Wilson’s shot was ruled offside, and Igor Jesus’s header from an Aina cross went over the line. The team’s inability to finish chances cost them the match.
Aftermath
Leeds, who are looking to climb the table after last season’s flirtation with relegation, will face Forest again in the Carabao Cup. Forest, under new boss Oliver Glasner, aim for a top‑half finish this season but will need to improve their finishing.
